Thandora is an elephant cow that has been in captivity for 23 years.
Her minders are slowly trying to re-introduce her to the wild at Gondwana Game Reserve.
For now Thandora’s herd consists of her minders and their vehicles as she hasn’t ventured far from them for the time being. A picture can be seen of Thandora sharing a bottle of water with one of her minders.
The Wildlife Manager of this Reserve has identified 2 cows who they intend on introducing to Thandora in the hope that they will form a herd.
It was last reported that there was a lot of trumpeting and excitement from the females that were yet to be introduced but in close proximity.
Everyone is hopeful that this beautiful story will have a happy ending.
