Trapped Elephant Rescued

A young male elephant fell into a ditch on a tea estate in Bokakhat, Inidia. It lay there trapped upside down for about two hours when the animal was discovered in the muddy trench by staff of the Tea Estate. Immediately a team from the Forest Department as well as members and veterinarians of the International Fund for Animal Welfare in India came to the struggling elephant’s assistance. An excavator was used to dig down on both sides of the ditch and after about 30 minutes, the young elephant was able to get back onto its feet. He then charged the excavator that had helped him out of this dire situation and then ran away into the tea plantation.
