The world’s top 10 golf courses

Obviously, we think our golf resorts are by far the best place to play but there are of course golf courses around the world for golfing enthusiasts to enjoy!   With help from the National Geographic we take a look at some of the most spectacular golf courses in the world.

1 – Pine Valley Golf Club, New Jersey
Extremely private and extremely hard to find, this golf course is, legend has it, one of the most beautiful in the world.  Located in remote woodland, little is known about this course but people who have been lucky enough to play there talk about its spectacular beauty.

2 – Cypress Point Club, California
Located on California’s Pacific coastline, golfers lucky enough to play at this exclusive club will enjoy their fair share of rolling fairways and stunning views.

3 – Muirfield Village Golf Club, Scotland
Not only beautiful, but challenging, making it perfect for experienced players.  This golf course is where Jack Nicklaus won his first British Open in 1966.

4 – St Andrews, Scotland
Another entry from Scotland, this course is said to be one of the most well renowned in the world.  Best of all it’s open to everyone but make sure you book as understandably it does get busy.  The old course is what you’re aiming to play on but there are other 18 hole courses and a 9 hole course which is ideal for young players and novices.

5 – Pebble Beach Golf Links, California
We return to California for this course.  The advice is to pause at the 18th hole for truly outstanding views of rocky coastline and rolling mountains.

6 – Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Melbourne
This course was set up in 1959 and actually boasts two 18 hole courses – an East and West.  Tournaments are held here and membership is a must.

7 – Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, New York
A little known fact about Shinnecock Hills – it was the first club that admitted females as members.  Experienced players will enjoy the challenge created by the strong winds from the nearby Atlantic Ocean.

8 –Augusta National Golf Club, Georgia
Host to the US Masters, it’s also home to some of golf’s toughest holes making it perfect for players who enjoy a challenge.

9 – Pinehurst Country Club, North Carolina
Boasting a total of eight courses, this is a large golfing resort which is not only big but also beautiful and scenic.  You’ll find tree lined fairways and lots of challenging bunkers at this world renowned course.

10 – Royal County Down Golf Club, Ireland
With views of both the Mourne mountains and the Irish sea this is certainly a stunning place to play.  It’s reserved for experienced golfers though, as wild Irish plants line the course and cover bunkers.

These global courses sound fantastic but we’re equally proud of our own golf resort – Kruger Park LodgePinnacle Point and the soon to be open Pearl Valley Golf Estate!
